Loop, Swoop & Pull

Loop, Swoop & Pull is a rage game, in which the goal is to tie your shoe while wrangling with the difficult controls. Both hands are controlled individually. Each finger can be individually used to grab onto the lace. Laces can also be pinned down to keep them airborne, one pin per hand. Once the player is satisfied with the knot they’ve created, they can click on the button labled “I’m done”. When this button is clicked, the shoe will start to sway back and forth wildly to check whether the laces hold. If the shoe remains tied, the player wins.

This game was made for the GMTK Game Jam 2025. This was the second time I joined this game jam together with my cousin, and the third time overall. The theme this year was “loop“. We interpreted this based on the loops you need to make with laces in order to tie your shoes. Most of my work this year was dedicated to creating art assets for the game. I wanted to challenge myself to further my 3D modelling capabilities. I made all models, textures and animations myself and started experimenting with normal maps and specular maps to make the textures look more detailed. I did help with programming as well. I programmed the movements of the hands and a system to play the sound effects. I designed the sound effects myself by mixing various royalty free sound effects and I also composed a song for the game.
